The Pairing Program is an initiative by Makicuna aimed at fostering closer relationships between coffee producers, roasters, and the importer (Makicuna). The program connects a roastery with a producer for a minimum of three years, agreeing on a minimum order quantity, setting goals and mutually beneficial prices.
For producers: Reduce the pressure of finding buyers each harvest, allowing them to focus on improving quality and obtaining better prices.
For roasters: Secure a reliable supply chain and demonstrate to customers the traceability and positive impact of their sourcing.
For Makicuna: Achieve financial stability, enabling more resources to be allocated to helping producers meet their goals and improve their farms.
Participation involves selecting a producer partner from Makicuna’s network in Ecuador, committing to a minimum of a three-year relationship, and agreeing to a contract detailing prices, payment terms, and responsibilities. The program offers regular updates, priority picks from your partner’s offering, marketing materials, and opportunities for direct contact and farm visits with the producer.
The Pairing Program aims to create a more resilient and sustainable coffee supply chain. By fostering long-term partnerships, it encourages investment in quality and sustainability, benefits all parties.
