Regions
The Andes mountain range runs through the country from North to South, through the centre of this corridor we have the ‘altiplano’ or the highland plateau where most of the Andean cities are located. The coffee growing regions are located on either side of the corridor.
To the east we have the Amazonic foothills, where the andes meet the amazon rainforest.
To the westthere are the Oceanic foothills, where the andes faces the Pacific ocean, this is a biosphere called Chocó Andino.
Along the 800 Km of mountains, there are endless microclimates
and biospheres where coffee can grow.
The two main coffee regions are Loja in the south and north west Andes or near the capital Quito.
